Artificial intelligence (AI) helped researchers look inside an ancient scroll that burned to the ground during the eruption of volcano Vesuvius, which destroyed Pompeii almost 2,000 years ago. This was reported by The Guardian on Wednesday, February 5.

"The scroll is one of hundreds found in the library of a Roman mansion in Herculaneum, a city on the west coast of Italy, which was destroyed by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD". - said in the material.

Excavations at the luxury villa, believed to have belonged to Julius Caesar's father-in-law, uncovered an extensive collection of scrolls, but the material was so charred that the black ink was impossible to read and the papyri crumbled into dust when researchers tried to open them.

In December 2023, Italian archaeologists discovered a bakery in the ancient Roman city of Pompeii where slaves worked. The room was found in a house divided into living and production parts. The bodies of three people who died in the eruption of the volcano Vesuvius were also found.
