Congressman from the U.S. state of Wisconsin Mark Pocan plans to put forward a bill called ELON MUSK, which would prohibit government employees from owning existing federal contracts. He announced this on February 5 on his page in the social network X (former Twitter).

"Today, U.S. House of Representatives member Mark Pocan announced plans to advance the Eliminate Looting of Our Nation by Mitigating Unethical State Kleptocracy (ELON MUSK) bill. This legislation would mandate that federal agencies terminate any contract with a special government employee, similar to the prohibitions on members of Congress and other federal employees," Pocan's statement said.

It is noted that the name of the project consists of an acronym consonant with the name of Musk, who serves as head of the new Department of efficiency of the U.S. government administration (DOGE). It is indicated that the name of the initiative translates as "stopping the plundering of our nation through the reduction of unethical state kleptocracy."

The initiator of the bill argues that government employees, which Musk is involved in, should not have a financial interest in government affairs. However, according to Pocan, Ilon Musk is a prime example of the "potential abuse" of this position. Pocan added that with federal contracts, there is no way Musk can be objective in his activities.

On the same day, NBC News reported that Musk has recently received reminders from the White House that his power is limited.

Earlier, on February 5, Bloomberg reported that Musk ' s team gained access to a secure room at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) that contained classified documents. The team from DOGE reportedly consisted of four people under the age of 30. While trying to enter the secured room, a conflict broke out between them and USAID security, during which one of the DOGE employees called Musk personally, and the latter threatened the guards to involve the U.S. Marshals Service if his team was not allowed to enter.

Prior to that, on Feb. 3, Musk announced that he was launching a process to liquidate USAID. The entrepreneur also said that the agency cannot be restored and must be gotten rid of.
