In Mexico, there was a riot in the prison of Villahermosa in which at least seven people died. This was reported by the portal Proceso on Tuesday, February 4.

The riot occurred as a result of an escape attempt by an inmate believed to be the instigator of the riot.

The State Attorney General's Office (FGET) said it has launched an investigation into the matter. Agency officials went to the prison to witness the deaths and remained there until the situation was brought under control.

Earlier on January 20, 24 dismembered bodies were found in a mass grave in Mexico. One woman and five men were identified, the TV station reported. They were reported missing between 2021 and 2023. The families of these victims have already been notified and are receiving psychological support. The remaining 18 people have not yet been identified and an investigation is underway to find those responsible. The burial site was discovered using drones, radar and search dogs.
