A man who tried to burn down a house together with his ex-wife and daughter in Orenburg was detained. A criminal case has been opened over the incident. This was reported on January 31 by the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia (IC) for the region.
It is specified that the incident occurred on January 29 in an apartment building on Marshak Street. The suspect, realizing that his ex-spouse and child are in the room, broke the window glass, spilled gasoline on the floor and set it on fire. He then entered the garage and set fire to the vehicle there. The motive for committing the crime was the dissolution of the marriage and the division of jointly acquired property.
"The criminal intent to murder the suspect did not bring to the end due to the fact that the victims, having woken up, took measures to extinguish the fire with improvised means and, having left the premises of the house, called the employees of the fire Department, which on arrival extinguished the fire," - stated on the website of the Department.
The man was detained, the criminal case was initiated under part 3 of article 30, paragraph "a" of part 2 of article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Attempted murder of two or more persons"). Soon he will be chosen a measure of restraint.
Earlier, on January 13, a source of "Izvestia" reported that a resident of Nizhny Novgorod region killed his wife and child. The man tried to stab his wife, and the child he hit several times on the head with a blunt object. Subsequently, the injured woman was found in the entranceway, the girl's body was in a locked apartment. When the room was opened, the defendant tried to settle scores with his life. The spouses were hospitalized, after the woman died.
On the fact of the incident initiated a criminal case. The man was taken into custody. During interrogation, he confessed to what he had done and specified that the motive of the crime was a conflict with his wife.
