Uragan MLRS systems destroyed an accumulation of AFU armored vehicles and personnel
Uragan multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) of the Guards Tank Army of the "West" group of forces have destroyed an accumulation of armored vehicles and personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the special operation zone. This was reported in the Russian Defense Ministry on January 31.
It is noted that the calculations of MLRS in full combat readiness on duty around the clock. A new task can come at any moment. And as soon as the command is sounded, the Uragan crews leave their shelters and promptly prepare their combat vehicles for firing. As the ministry pointed out, this time the Uragan MLRS units disrupted the rotation of AFU units and destroyed an accumulation of armored vehicles and enemy personnel in one of the directions in the combat zone.
In the course of aerial reconnaissance, the UAV crews uncovered the places of temporary deployment of armored vehicles and AFU fighters and transmitted the information to the artillery command post. Having received the coordinates of the targets, the Uragan MLRS crews moved to the area of operational use. Having taken up firing positions, the servicemen deployed their combat vehicles and aimed them at the targets. The 220-millimeter rockets were fired at a range of up to 30 kilometers. As a result of hitting the uncovered targets, the enemy suffered losses in armored vehicles and manpower.
The artillery fire was corrected and the destruction of targets was recorded by UAV calculations, which transmitted the results of the firing to the artillery command post in real time. After the live firing, the Uragan crews changed their firing positions to alternate ones to avoid retaliatory fire from the enemy.
"We work mainly at a range of 30 kilometers, the maximum is 35.8 kilometers. We disrupt logistics, rotation of units, work on their accumulations of manpower, equipment, columns, etc.," said the commander of the MLRS division with the call sign Sapphire.
During the performance of combat missions, the artillerymen use fragmentation-fugitive ammunition, which allows them to inflict maximum damage to fortifications, buried fortifications and enemy armored vehicles. The Uragan's high range and large kill area make it possible to conduct effective counter-battery warfare and attack the enemy's rear positions, disrupting the Ukrainian militants' supply routes, the ministry added.
Earlier, on January 30, the Defense Ministry reported that the D-30 howitzer crews of the artillery unit of the "North" group of troops destroyed platoon strongholds with AFU militants in the area of the special operation.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the aggravated situation in the region.
