Decisive supply: Russian fighters received a new heavy tactical drone
The FPV cargo drone "Ilya Muromets" started to be massively used in the NWO zone. Its main advantage is flexible frequency tuning, which helps bypass foreign REB systems. The 8 kg payload allows the drone to deliver medicines, ammunition and water to fighters operating in the hottest spots on the front line. What combat tasks can perform UAV on the line of contact - in the material "Izvestia".
Characteristics of FPV drone"Ilya Muromets"
FPV-drone "Ilya Muromets" - a heavy tactical drone that can lift up to 8 kg of cargo and deliver it to a range of up to 15 km. This makes it possible to supply remote positions with food, water, medicine and ammunition.
In particular, it is in demand for supplying units on the Dnieper islands, where the Russian Marines have entrenched themselves, Oleg Fedorov, CEO of drone developer FROBOTICS, told Izvestia. According to him, the Ilya Muromets is almost the only reliable means of cargo delivery in the area.
Any equipment in water or on land immediately falls into the crosshairs of enemy drones, and it is easier for an aerial vehicle to break through to its forward positions, Fedorov explained. The drone is also successfully used for remote mining and reconnaissance.
- With the reduction of the load, the flight radius of Ilya Muromets will increase," said Oleg Fedorov. - In this case, it is possible to use an aerial repeater of the control signal.
He said that the drone has eight motors, which increases flight stability and gives a power reserve. The apparatus is made of 100% Russian components.
For units operating in the NWO zone, the communication unit is completed based on the fighters' requests.
- At different points of the front, the enemy uses REB systems, the characteristics of which differ from each other," the developer noted. - Depending on the request, for example, we choose the operating frequencies. Drones work on analog communication. And also with the help of special communication systems "Grasshopper" and "Hermes". They allow us to change control frequencies in flight. And in many areas of the front, these are almost the only communication systems that cannot suppress the VSA's REB systems. This increases the noise immunity of vehicles.
Earlier "Izvestia" wrote that mass deliveries of special communication devices "Hermes" for drones began in the zone of the SSO. Every month the military receive more than 40 thousand sets.
What heavy drones are needed for
There is a need for any means of cargo delivery in the special military operation zone, military expert Dmitry Kornev told Izvestia.
- 15 kilometers seems to be not much, but it will be enough to work between the nearest rear and the front line," he specified. - Carrying capacity of 8 kg allows you to throw, for example, medicines, documents. In extreme situations, in particular, it is possible to transfer water, food, ammunition in small quantities to the encirclement. And such drones should have a communication system that is as interference-proof as possible.
Military expert Yuri Lyamin also noted the problem with the delivery of supplies to the front positions due to the active counteraction of the AFU in his conversation with Izvestia.
- Robotic platforms, from ground to airborne, are being used more and more actively now," he said. - Often it turns out that the positions of our fighters may be without supplies, in particular, when an assault was carried out, the group was entrenched, but it is difficult to get through to it and deliver ammunition and water. On the one hand, I've seen pictures of this drone and it's not big enough to be a noticeable target. On the other hand, 8 kg is a decent load that makes it possible to bring a couple bottles of water and ammo. Resilience to REB assets is important, especially in forward positions.
Key nodes for Russian-made UAVs
Earlier "Izvestia" wrote that Russia launched the first large-scale production of key components for UAVs, which have no domestic analogs. This will allow for prompt delivery of components to customers without complex logistics chains, simplify and speed up the assembly of UAVs.
One of Rostec's enterprises has mastered the production of navigation modules and controllers for engines of different power. Flight controllers for small UAVs are on the way. All these are completely domestic developments, a worthy substitute for imported "stuffing". This is just the import substitution, which was very much awaited, noted Izvestia's sources in the defense industry.
Rostec's press service confirmed the information to Izvestia and added: "We have our own developments, which have been completed and put into mass production within a short period of time. There is no need to explain the relevance, the country's demand for such products is very high. Thanks to engineering solutions, the products can be integrated into the design of drones from different manufacturers as quickly as possible."
