The wife of the Italian Gianni Cenni, captured by the militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), Ekaterina reported on Saturday, January 26, that he is in the emergency hospital in Kharkiv in serious condition.
"Informed my sibling: you are notified by the Ukrainian Embassy in Italy that your sibling Gianni Cenni has been in hospital since January 17, GPS point - Professor Meshchaninov Emergency First Aid Hospital in the city of Kharkiv," the wife of the captured Italian told RIA Novosti.
Cenny specified that the Ukrainian embassy communicates only with the brother of the captured, and no one contacts her, although she wrote to the diplomatic mission and called Kharkiv. At the hospital, the woman was told by phone that they could give her any information about her husband only if she personally visited the hospital.
The wife of the Italian said that she appealed for help to the information center of the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation, regional authorities, Russian Ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova and the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation.
Earlier, on January 10, the Italian portal Today.it reported that the AFU had captured Italian pizza maker Gianni Cenni, who had taken part in combat operations in the Russian Armed Forces, near Kupyansk in Kharkiv Region. According to the publication, Cenni was born in Naples and has two children. After working in Italy and Finland, he moved to the Russian Federation, where he became a chef in a restaurant in Samara, and in November 2024 began serving in the Russian army as a volunteer, adds "Gazeta.Ru".
Later, on January 22, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the calculation of FPV-drones of the test center of advanced unmanned technologies "Rubicon" on the Kupyansk direction destroyed an artillery installation of the AFU. During combat operations, Russian drones bypassed the enemy's electronic warfare (EW) equipment. The objective control footage showed that the target was successfully hit.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the aggravated situation in the region.
