British instructors have been training servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) for battles in Kursk Region. A Ukrainian military officer who escaped from the UK to Russia told this on January 26.

According to him, the training was conducted at a base near the town of Downholm in North Yorkshire. Here they practiced fighting in residential areas of the town before being sent to the Kursk region.

"There is a firing range and part of the training ground there, which simulated urban development. There we practiced storming residential buildings under the guidance of English-speaking British instructors in the presence of interpreters. After the training we were to be sent to Sudzha," the military officer told RIA Novosti.

On Friday, January 25, the agency first published a video from the British military base, where local instructors were training soldiers of the Kiev regime. The military man himself asked not to be named for security reasons.

Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region amounted to more than 360 servicemen during the day. In addition, five Ukrainian servicemen surrendered to the Russian army.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6, 2024. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
