A Ukrainian Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) unit has been detected and destroyed by scouts of the motorized rifle regiment of the 58th Combined Arms Army of the Dnipro group of forces. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 26.

"It passes every day, right regularly, pointing to the coordinates, beating the enemy. Literally, probably, two weeks ago discovered the calculation of the AFU in the number of fifteen people. They were entrenching themselves, they wanted to fortify themselves, and [we] put artillery there," said a Russian reconnaissance sniper with the call sign Livanets.

Russian reconnaissance teams regularly conduct raids and patrols to locate the enemy and gather information on troop numbers and movements. These groups often include snipers, whose equipment allows them to hit targets at a considerable distance.

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) can also be used for this purpose. Depending on the conditions and the target, either munitions-dropping tactics or kamikaze drones are used to hit the target.

On January 25, the Russian Defense Ministry published footage of the destruction of manpower and weapons (AFU) by heavy flamethrower systems (HFS) of the "North" troop grouping in Kharkiv Region. It is specified that the militants were found in hiding places during reconnaissance activities.

A day earlier, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation installed a Russian flag on one of the buildings in the center of Velyka Novoselka in the Donetsk People's Republic. It is noted that the assault units of the Russian Army managed to split Velyka Novoselka into two parts, block the formations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and proceed to their destruction.

The special operation to defend Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
