Soldiers of the Russian Armed Forces (AF) of the Southern Group of Forces continue their active offensive and displace the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Kurakhov direction of the SSE zone. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 26.

"We received the task to move forward. The instruction was to proceed and clear the forest belt. Well, it was unexpected [for the enemy], and I understood that they were not clinging [to positions]," a fighter with the call sign Tulyak shared his impressions

During the infantry action, commanders controlled the progress of the motorized rifle battle from their positions and also corrected the work of artillery. Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) operators, in turn, helped monitor the battlefield.

"Two people started going around the dugout, firing constantly. One man took a bullet in the leg. I approached from the right side, was also wounded, but continued to fire," recalls the deputy platoon commander with the call sign Rama.

Also a feature of this assault was the UAV operator covering his comrades in arms. The operator of a light reconnaissance drone went to ram a heavy Ukrainian industrial drone with ammunition to prevent it from hitting the Russian Armed Forces fighters below.

On February 25, fighters of the Center group of forces defeated Luti attack drones in the Donetsk People's Republic. The fighting took place in the areas of the settlements of Dzerzhinsk, Zelenoye, Krymskoye, Petrovka, Lysovka, Novovasilevka and Novoezavetovka in the DNR. The AFU lost up to 550 fighters, five armored combat vehicles (ACVs), a tank, four field artillery guns and three vehicles there.

Earlier in the day, an AFU weapons cache was discovered in the DNR. Presumably, the Ukrainian military, retreating from Avdeevka, which was liberated by the Russian army, hid the weapons in order to use them for sabotage and terrorist purposes when the opportunity arose.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
