- Fitzo pointed the blame of the West for the failure of the peace agreement with Ukraine in 2022
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fitzo has accused Western countries of derailing the conclusion of a peace agreement on Ukraine in 2022. He said this on air of the STVR TV channel.
According to him, the Ukrainian conflict could have ended in April 2022.
In addition, he noted that Ukraine has bad prospects, as it will never have the opportunity to enter NATO and will have difficulties in joining the European Union (EU).
Earlier, on January 24, Trump accused Zelensky (term expired on May 20, 2024) of obstructing the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. According to him, a peace agreement with Russia was not reached because the Ukrainian leader "wanted to go to war."
In addition, Trump reported the desire to meet with Putin as soon as possible to end the conflict in Ukraine. The leader of the United States noted that he intended to see the Russian president to stop the wasting of millions of lives.
On January 22, Zelensky admitted the possibility of talks with Putin if Trump gives Kiev security guarantees. According to him, the only question for him is what kind of guarantees we are talking about, and he wants to have that understanding before the talks.
The last round of talks between Russia and Ukraine took place on March 29, 2022 in Istanbul. They lasted about three hours. Later, Kiev officially refused contacts with Moscow. On October 4, 2022, the Ukrainian president put into effect the decision of the country's National Security and Defense Council on the impossibility of holding talks with Putin.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
