FSB officers found an AFU stronghold near Avdeevka in the DNR
A cache of foreign weapons was discovered on the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) near Avdeevka. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on Saturday, January 25.
The cache was discovered by FSB officers at the location of former positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). Presumably, the Ukrainian military, retreating from Avdeevka, liberated by the Russian Army, hid weapons in order to use them for sabotage and terrorist purposes when the opportunity arose.
Among other things, a 7.62-mm machine gun made in Belgium, a 5.56-mm American M16 rifle, two RPG hand grenade launchers, three 5.45-mm AK-74 assault rifles, as well as grenades and ammunition were recovered from the cache.
All the discovered weapons and ammunition will be sent to the units of the Russian Defense Ministry for further use.
Earlier, on January 24, it was reported that a military police unit of the Southern Group of Forces liquidated a cache of weapons of the Ukrainian army in the DNR.
Prior to that, on January 21, sappers of the Center group of troops told about the cunning explosive tabs of the AFU. Anything can lie in scattered things, but, as a rule, in houses they leave stretch marks in doorways or mine valuable things. Barely visible fishing line at foot traffic height is the most common means of mines.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by the Russian Federation on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
