Soldiers of the assault company of the 114th brigade of the 51st army are advancing towards Constantinople in the Kurakhov direction. Izvestia correspondent Alexander Safiulin spoke to the servicemen on Saturday, January 25.

Now the company is carrying out combat work near Avdeevka. The movements of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are being monitored with the help of drones.

"Preliminary aerial reconnaissance conducts activities, identifying the enemy, location, how equipped, how anchored. Only after deep analysis are decisions made about how they will act in this or that situation. What approach to them is needed on the approach to this or that point," said a Russian serviceman with the call sign Gora.

The AFU units are stationed behind Kurakhov, and this area is convenient for Russian reconnaissance. A company commander with the call sign Farik is conducting surveillance while at the headquarters. According to him, the plans of the 5th Tank Army of the AFU have failed time after time, despite all attempts to stop the advance of Russian troops.

"The three outermost entrenchments we cracked at them," he said. "They were staking out the entrenchments. Basically they're not in the landings now, they're holding on to the entrenchments. Because they don't have anything dug up in the landings, they made good fortifications, concrete, everything as it should be. We break them, where we bypass them, where we hold on to them," Farik said.

According to another serviceman with the call sign Chugun, the Ukrainian side does not risk to engage in small arms combat, and the defense is poor. The AFU prefer to keep at a distance.

"Basically, they are trying to "kamikaze" to knock us out, with artillery," he noted.

Earlier, on January 22, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that calculations of BM-21 Grad multiple rocket launchers of the Guards Motorized Rifle Division of the Southern Group of Forces foiled an attempt to prepare the AFU for a counterattack in one of the sections of the Kurakhov direction.

Prior to that, on January 11, the Southern Group of Forces reported about the capture of 16 AFU soldiers in the Kurakhov direction. It is specified that after the offensive of the 110th Guards Brigade of the 51st Guards All-Russian Army and the dropping of leaflets from UAVs calling for surrender, the AFU soldiers voluntarily fell into captivity.

The special operation to defend Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
