- A case has been opened against teenagers for defrauding a pensioner of 6 million rubles
A criminal case of fraud has been opened against two Muscovites aged 16 and 18 for defrauding a 63-year-old resident of the capital of 6 million rubles, the Russian Interior Ministry reported on January 24.
"A criminal case has been opened under part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. A measure of restraint in the form of house arrest and a ban on certain actions has been chosen against the defendants," the agency's Telegram channel said.
The swindlers called the woman, introducing themselves as employees of government agencies, and said that the money on her cards was under threat. In order to allegedly "save" the funds, they advised her to urgently cash out her savings and transfer them to a certain "safe account".
The pensioner transferred 649 thousand rubles to the details of the fraudsters. After she was told that she could help to detain the person who allegedly gained access to her account. However, for this purpose it is necessary to execute a loan against the security of the apartment, and to transfer cash to the courier. The woman, having been misled, complied with the fraudsters' demands and handed over more than 6 million rubles to the unknown persons. Realizing that she was deceived, the victim turned to the police.
Operative workers detained the accomplices of remote swindlers on Ivan Susanin Street. It is established, one of them took money from the applicant and gave it to another, who then gave the cash to an unknown person. As a reward for the "work" the detainees kept Br25 thousand.
Earlier, January 20, a source of "Izvestia" reported that in Moscow, a 15-year-old girl handed over 600 thousand rubles to fraudsters for "declaration". The eighth-grader received a call from unknown persons and said that it was necessary to declare all the money at home. The attackers offered the teenager not to walk around the city with a large sum, but to hand over the funds to a courier who would deliver them to the "tax service". In total, the girl gave 350 thousand rubles and $3 thousand to the swindlers.
