The Theater of the Russian Army presented a new production of "The Master and Margarita", the performance is called "The Novel". For the first time in the history of the theater to create the mysterious world of Mikhail Bulgakov's heroes, a tank entrance was opened. "Izvestia" visited the premiere.
"Roman" - the first production of the People's Artist of Russia Alexander Lazarev in the status of chief director of the Theater of the Russian Army. To the staging of Bulgakov's "The Master and Margarita" he was three years in the making.
For the basis of the play Lazarev took only a part of "The Master and Margarita" - the one that tells the story of Pontius Pilate. It is often skipped by some people. It is more interesting to follow Voland and his retinue. But the storyline of the Roman Bulgakov not accidentally included in his novel.
Alexander Lazarev rethinks the role of the cruel procurator of Judea. Having committed a terrible crime, Pilate is tormented by conscience. He appears as a man rebellious and suffering from remorse for having executed the wrong person. This role is played by Maxim Averin. In the second cast - Alexander Baluev. Alexander Domogarov appears as Voland.
Pilate on stage appears in a white cloak, on which instead of the book "bloody hem" - bloodstains. The author of costumes, Olga Nikitina, said that she wanted to pick up a metaphor, to reveal the image of the procurator of Judea.
"I came up with such an expressive means as dried blood, soaked the cloak for many years. Pilate drags his hem behind him like a weight," she explained.
