Military police of the Southern Group of Forces liquidated an AFU weapons cache in the DNR

A military police unit of the Southern Group of Forces has liquidated a weapons cache of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 24.

It is specified that within the framework of operational measures in one of the abandoned private houses a cache with weapons and ammunition, left by Ukrainian servicemen during the retreat, was discovered. Military police officers reacted in time and seized weapons and ammunition from the cache, having previously cordoned off the territory of the dangerous zone.

"First of all, the territory is checked for booby traps and stretch marks - as practice shows, the AFU during the retreat very often leave such surprises. At the moment nothing of this kind was found, as the AFU were in a hurry before retreating and did not have time to put anything. Now after the inspection of the territory we will make a decision on the discovered ammunition," - said the sapper with the call sign Klim.

Specialists with the help of modern mine detectors conduct an engineering reconnaissance of the area and assess the situation, after which the demining team begins to clear the areas of explosive objects.

"When inspecting the area in question, the following type of weaponry was revealed - Grad multiple rocket launcher rocket system (MLRS) of a reduced type in the number of more than 15 units, as well as a large number of fuses to them. Grenades, several boxes, such as RGD-5 defensive and offensive F-1. Also cartridges of 5.45 mm caliber. On further inspection of the engineer-sapper company will be decided on the liquidation on the spot or use as intended," - said the inspector of the military police with the call sign Chip.
