Mi-28 crew disrupted the rotation of AFU units in the border area of Kursk region
An army aviation crew on a Mi-28 helicopter as part of a mixed tactical group has disrupted the rotation of Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) units in the border area of Kursk Region. This was reported in the Russian Defense Ministry on January 24.
It is specified that in the course of support of ground troops, the pilots of the army aviation carried out missile launches at specified coordinates and hit armored vehicles, as well as manpower of Ukrainian formations.
After the attack, the crew performed an anti-missile maneuver at low altitude and fired heat cannons to prevent the Ukrainian army's man-portable surface-to-air missile system (MANPADS) missiles from hitting them.
Earlier, on January 20, a Ka-52M helicopter hit AFU armored vehicles and manpower in the Kursk border region. The crew was carrying out a combat mission to support units of the "North" group of forces.
The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6, 2024. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by the President of the Russian Federation on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the worsening situation in the region.
