Governor of the American state of Texas Greg Abbott on Friday, January 24, demanded compensation from Congress for securing the country's border during the administration of former US President Joe Biden.

According to a statement published in the Texas governor's account on social network X, the state spent this money from its own reserves to compensate for the lack of state regulation.

"In total, Texas has spent more than $11.1 billion to protect the public and secure the border. Accordingly, I am formally requesting that the federal government fully reimburse Texas for these expenditures," the statement reads.

According to him, the policy of the administration under Biden has actually left especially Texas and the rest of America defenseless.

Earlier, on January 21, it was reported that a coalition of at least 18 US states filed a lawsuit against the President's decision to limit the granting of US citizenship by birthright. It was specified that another group of states, which included Arizona and Washington, filed a separate lawsuit against the decision signed by Trump.

On the same day, the media pointed out Trump's violation of the US Constitution in the immigrant law. The NYT reported that Trump cannot revoke birthright citizenship on his own. Since the president of the country does not have the power to amend the Constitution on his own, any executive order restricting or eliminating birthright citizenship would be challenged in court as a violation of the 14th Amendment.
