US President Donald Trump has expressed hope that his team is already making great efforts to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. This was reported by The Indian Express on January 23, referring to his speech before the participants of the World Economic Forum in Davos.
"I hope our efforts to reach a peaceful settlement between Russia and Ukraine are already underway. It's time to put an end to it," he said.
Trump promised to end the conflict, but did not provide details.
On January 20, Trump was inaugurated, after which he reiterated that he plans to meet with Putin as soon as possible and discuss the conflict in Ukraine. In turn, the new US Secretary of State Marco Rubio called the settlement of the Ukrainian crisis a priority for Trump. According to him, "part of the preparatory work" has begun.
Earlier, on January 22, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) wrote that Trump instructed his special envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg to resolve the Ukrainian conflict in 100 days.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by the Russian president on February 24, 2022, is ongoing. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
