Police conduct a check because of the video from the "wedding of children" in the Astrakhan region

In the Astrakhan region, police officers are checking information about a "children's wedding", the video of which was published on social networks. This was reported to "Izvestia" on January 23 in the main department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the region.

It is specified that the video of the "wedding" appeared in social networks at least December 24, 2024.

It is claimed that it shows a "gypsy wedding" of a 13-year-old girl and a boy who is supposedly nine years old.

It is not known exactly where the events took place.

Earlier, January 22, the Associated Press reported that the Iraqi Parliament adopted a law allowing marriages with girls from nine years old. It is noted that Islamic courts were allowed to decide on marriages based on their interpretation of Islam, which could lead to marriages with teenage girls or even children of nine years old.
