FSSB reveals details of case of Russian Shatresov convicted of state treason

On January 23, the Department of the Federal Security Service of Russia (FSB) revealed details of the criminal case of Russian Dmitri Shatresov, who was convicted of treason.

According to the agency, the man, having illegally obtained information that constitutes state secrets, intended to pass it to a representative of the U.S. intelligence. In January last year, he was detained by officers of the FSSB of the Russian Federation during an attempt to transfer classified materials.

"In the course of the investigation, his actions were qualified by the investigative service of the Department on the grounds of a crime under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("High Treason")", - stated in the message of the press service of the agency.

Earlier, January 22, Moscow City Court sentenced Shatresov to 17 years in a strict regime colony and a fine of 100 thousand rubles.
