Russian Investigative Committee (IC) officers have seized more than 30 firearms from former Russian Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov, who is accused of taking a particularly large bribe, as well as two episodes of embezzlement and withdrawal of more than four billion rubles from Interkommerts Bank. This was reported by TASS on January 23 with reference to an interlocutor from the law enforcement agencies.
According to him, during the search investigators seized more than 30 firearms, including hunting and award weapons. All of them were sent for ballistic examination.
Earlier, on January 20, the prosecutor's office approved the indictment in the criminal case against former Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov and his former subordinate Anton Filatov, accused of embezzlement and money laundering.
Ivanov's detention became known on April 23, 2024. The next day he was arrested. Ivanov is charged with taking a bribe in the amount of 1.185 billion rubles. According to the investigation, he entered into a criminal conspiracy with the heads of contractors working at the facilities of the Ministry of Defense, and signed contracts with them in exchange for illegal personal remuneration. On June 20, Ivanov was dismissed from his post.
The accounts, assets and real estate belonging to the defendant were arrested. In addition, the court seized two cars and a motorcycle of the official, including a Chevrolet Suburban. In April, Ivanov's apartment was searched. On September 24, it became known about the arrest of the former deputy minister's mansion near Moscow. Its approximate value is 1 billion rubles.
A friend of the former deputy minister , Sergei Borodin, was also taken into custody as part of the case. The third defendant in the case, co-founder of OOO "Olympstroy" Alexander Fomin and his subordinate Filatov, was also arrested.
On December 17, the court extended Ivanov's arrest until March 23.
