CNN on Thursday, January 23, will announce the reduction of hundreds of employees in connection with the reorientation of activities on the online audience. This was reported by the television channel CNBC.

According to interlocutors, the cuts will not affect the most famous names of CNN, who work under contract. CNN currently employs about 3,500 people worldwide.

The cuts will help CNN reduce production costs and unify teams, the channel said. At the same time, the shooting of some shows that are organized in New York and Washington, D.C., may move to Atlanta, where production will be less costly.

Earlier, on December 21, 2024, Volkswagen announced that it would cut 35,000 workers by 2030. This announcement was made contrary to the IG Metall union's announcement, which was published on its official website on December 2. IG Metall managed to push through the new job guarantee after Volkswagen terminated the previous job guarantee in September. Forced layoffs have been ruled out until the end of 2030.
