The largest deal in history in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) will aggravate the technological war between China and the United States, according to experts interviewed by Izvestia.
On January 21, US President Donald Trump announced the creation of Stargate, which will invest up to $500 billion in artificial intelligence (AI) as part of a new partnership with OpenAI, Oracle and SoftBank. According to the US leader, Stargate will build physical and virtual infrastructure to support the next generation of AI. Trump said it is the largest artificial intelligence infrastructure project in history.
The purpose of Stargate's creation is championed by the US' desire to monopolize the market for AI services. If the project is realized to the extent stated, it is not entirely clear whether Trump and his team will be able to control their brainchild, AI experts said.
"On the horizon may loom a super AI like Skynet (a fictional US supercomputer based on a combat AI from the "Terminator" movie series that gained free will. - Ed.), no matter how paradoxical it may sound," said Kirill Semion, General Director of the ANO "National Center of Competence for Holding Management Information Systems".
