Uganda and Rosatom are negotiating the construction of a nuclear power plant, Alexei Likhachev, director general of the state corporation, told Izvestia. But there is no specific timeframe for the project's realization yet.

"Negotiations are underway, but no official intergovernmental agreements have been reached yet," Likhachev told Izvestia.

In October 2024, the Ugandan authorities and Rosatom signed a memorandum of understanding in the field of nuclear energy and NPP construction. At the same time, Ugandan Energy Minister Sidronius Okaasai Opolot said that the country together with the Russian state corporation is choosing a site for the future power plant.
