Court sentences four more participants in riots at Makhachkala airport

Kochubeyevsky district court of Stavropol region passed a sentence on the case of four citizens of Dagestan on the riots at the international airport of Makhachkala. This was reported on January 22 in the press service of the prosecutor's office of the region.

"Kochubeyevsky district court of the Stavropol region passed a sentence in a criminal case against four residents of the Republic of Dagestan", - written in the message.

It is noted that Akhmed Magomedbekov, Murtazali Murtazaliev, Shamil Mugutdinov and Rajab Mutayev were found guilty of committing crimes under part 2 of article 212 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and part 3 of article 263.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Participation in mass riots accompanied by violence, pogroms, destruction of property, use of other objects that pose a danger to others, violation of requirements in the field of transport security").

Thus, the court sentenced the defendants to imprisonment for a term of 8 years to 10 years 3 months. It is indicated that the perpetrators will serve their sentence in a penal colony of general regime.

Before that, January 16, five more defendants in the criminal case of riots at the airport were convicted. Vagab, Jamal, Najmudin, Alibek and Vadim Gadzhiev were found guilty of committing crimes under Part 2 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code and Part 3 of Article 263.1 of the Criminal Code. It is noted that the Gadzhievs were sentenced to imprisonment for a term of seven to eight years in a general regime colony.

Theriots near Makhachkala airport began in the evening of October 29 last year. The participants came with anti-Israeli posters and chanted slogans in support of Palestine. At one point, part of the crowd broke down the entrance doors and broke into the terminal building of the air harbor.

Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting about the incident on October 30, 2023. The head of state also pointed out that behind the events was the intention to rock the country from within. In turn, the head of the republic Sergey Melikov appealed to the residents with a request not to let the enemies and provocateurs manipulate themselves and sway the situation in the region.
