Overcooling of pelvic organs is the main factor undermining male health in winter. This was reported on January 22 by urologist andrologist of the Center for Reproductive Health "SM-Clinica" Artur Bogatyrev.

"In winter it is very easy to catch a cold, but for men a special danger is hypothermia of pelvic organs. Prolonged stay in the cold, especially in light clothing, can lead to inflammatory diseases of the genitourinary system, such as cystitis, urethritis and prostatitis," - he said in conversation with "Gazeta.Ru".

The specialist recommended men to dress for the weather and do not forget about warm pants and thermal underwear.

Another factor Bogatyrev called sedentary lifestyle. According to him, this can lead to stagnation of blood in the pelvic organs, which has a negative impact on the blood supply of the prostate gland. The doctor urged men to maintain health by physical training in the gym or at home.

He also noted the need to observe the diet, because in winter the body is drawn to heavier and caloric food. Bogatyrev specified that improper nutrition contributes to excessive weight gain and deterioration of the general condition of the body. He urged to include vegetables and fruits in the diet, as well as to avoid sweets and fast food.

The specialist also pointed out the need to consult a doctor about taking vitamin D supplements, which can be in short supply in winter. In addition, he noted that the vitamin is necessary for many processes in the body and called self-medication dangerous.

"During the holidays and cold evenings, many men allow themselves extra in terms of bad habits. Excessive alcohol consumption and smoking have a negative impact on the cardiovascular system and can worsen erectile function," the doctor added.

In addition, Bogatyrev urged not to ignore the symptoms of diseases and timely consult a doctor in order not to neglect the disease.

Earlier, on January 16, therapist, doctor of ultrasound "INVITRO" Svetlana Kuprina shared with "Izvestia" the opinion that walking without gloves in winter contributes to the deterioration of immunity. According to her, under certain circumstances, refusal to wear gloves can lead to frostbite of varying severity, impaired sensitivity of fingers, local hypothermia of tissues, as well as exacerbation of arthritis, the appearance of local disorders of blood microcirculation and increased risk of Raynaud's syndrome (vasospasm).
