Colombian mercenary Pablo Puentes Borges, who as part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) invaded the territory of Kursk region, was promised a financial reward of 50,000 hryvnias (about 118,000 rubles) per month. He said this during his interrogation in the Russian Investigative Committee.

The mercenary said that he arrived in Ukraine around November 25, 2024, in order to provide instruction on first aid to a Spanish-speaking group of militants.

"First I came to Lviv, after that I was redirected to Uzhgorod <...> I was promised 50 thousand hryvnias per month for first aid training," he specified.

In Uzhgorod, the detainee continued, a group of about 60-70 military men was created, which he trained. According to Boorhas, he found himself on Russian territory by chance in general.

"I assume it was January 4, but we were not shown a map or told at all that we were going to the territory of the Russian Federation. We were only told that we needed to get the wounded out. We were told that we needed to get to the point, load the wounded and leave," he recalled.

The group was then sent to look for the wounded, but they were never found, and the mercenaries were eventually attacked by drones, the Colombian concluded.

The fact that Borges was taken into custody was reported earlier in the day. The identity of the militant was established by officers of the Russian Federal Security Service Department for the Leningrad Military District and suppressed his criminal activity. A criminal case was also opened against the mercenary.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
