The Russian Supreme Court rejected the appeal against the sentence of Beslan Khabilayev, Sergey Sary and Roman Cheban, accomplices of Moldovan citizen Andrei Torkunov, known in criminal circles as Turok. This was reported by a correspondent of "Izvestia" on January 22.

All three were sentenced by Moscow City Court in May 2023. Khabilayev was sentenced to 12 years in a strict regime colony with a fine of 700 thousand rubles. Cheban and Sary were sentenced to nine and seven years in a strict regime colony, respectively, with a fine of 500 thousand rubles each. Another defendant, Sergei Bogdan, was acquitted.

Torkunov was accused of extortion (part 3 of article 163 of the Criminal Code), robbery (part 3 of article 161 of the Criminal Code) and occupying the highest position in the criminal hierarchy (part 1 of article 210 of the Criminal Code) and sentenced to 21 years in a special regime colony with a fine of Br4 million.

He did not appeal the verdict, but his and his ex-wife's representatives tried to lift the arrest on the apartment belonging to Torkunova. The Supreme Court also left this demand without satisfaction.

Torkunov was arrested in April 2020 under the article on occupying the highest position in the criminal hierarchy. The investigation found that he received the status of a thief in law in 2013.
