Aliyev and Zelensky meet at Davos forum
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky (term expired May 20, 2024) on January 22 on the margins of the World Economic Forum in Davos.
"During the conversation they discussed ties between Azerbaijan and Ukraine in political, economic, humanitarian fields, cooperation in the energy sector and regional security issues," the Azerbaijani leader's website reports.
It is specified that the meeting was held at the request of the Ukrainian side.
In September 2024, Aliyev said that Azerbaijan was ready to take part in the settlement of the crisis in Ukraine, but categorically does not accept the anti-Russian sanctions campaign and will not participate in it.
Before that, in April, he said that Baku has not and will not supply weapons to Kiev, although such requests have been made. This decision is dictated primarily by unwillingness to harm Azerbaijan's relations with Russia, Aliyev said.
