Deputies of the State Duma (GD) at the plenary session passed in the first reading a bill that proposes to exclude the period of participation in a special military operation (SMO) from the validity of the results of the Unified State Examination (USE). This is evidenced by the publication on the website of the lower house of parliament on January 22.

According to the current legislation, from the moment of passing the USE, the results are available for four years for admission to bachelor's and specialization.

"We propose to exclude from this period the time of participation in a special military operation, the term of service for those who signed a contract or were called up for fixed-term military service", - specified the Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin.

Earlier, on January 12, the head of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs Yaroslav Nilov said that Russia will gradually come to abandon the USE. According to him, this is evidenced by the revision of some of the rules of the exam and the beginning of discussions on an integrated system of knowledge assessment.

At the same time, the head of Rosobrnadzor Anzor Muzayev said on January 13 that there is no question of abolishing the USE in the coming years.

First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education Alexander Mazhuga clarified in a conversation with "Izvestia" that there is currently no alternative for the exam. He emphasized that work is underway to improve the USE in terms of content.
