The political dialogue between Russia and Kyrgyzstan is developing steadily and is characterized by a high level of trust. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a meeting with his Kyrgyz counterpart Zheenbek Kulubayev on January 22.

"I would like to once again emphasize our satisfaction with the progressive development of the bilateral political dialogue, it is characterized by a high level of trust," Lavrov said.

He drew attention to the fact that private contacts between Russian and Kyrgyz Presidents Vladimir Putin and Sadyr Zhaparov give all aspects of bilateral cooperation a strong foundation.

The Russian minister recalled that the governments of the two states also regularly interact. For example, during 2024, the heads of the cabinets of ministers of Kyrgyzstan and the Russian Federation met five times, and on October 19-21 there was a successful official visit of the incumbent Prime Minister of the republic Akylbek Zhaparov. As part of his trip, the Days of Kyrgyz Culture in the Russian Federation were held.

Following the meeting, the Foreign Ministers signed a program of cooperation between the diplomatic departments of the two states for 2025-2027.

Earlier, on December 6, 2024, Putin, congratulating Zhaparov on his birthday, said that Moscow and Bishkek will continue to work together to strengthen bilateral ties, develop integration processes in Eurasia and ensure regional security.

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at a meeting with his Kyrgyz counterpart on November 21 that in the first eight months of 2024, trade turnover between Moscow and Bishkek increased by 16%, and the share of the ruble in settlements amounted to almost 90%. In addition, Russia is making a very large contribution to Kyrgyzstan's energy security.
