Finland's president foreshadowed an era of uncertainty because of Trump
An era of uncertainty may come under US President Donald Trump. Finnish President Alexander Stubb said in an interview with Finnish broadcaster Yle on January 21.
"We must prepare for an era of uncertainty, when the rules, norms and institutions that we used to rely on are about to disappear," Stubb said.
In his view, the new norms will be different from the traditional system, which involved rules and the support of international institutions. Trump's policy, on the other hand, is based on transactions and deals.
The Finnish leader also added that the new presidential administration needs to be convinced that the values and interests of the Trump team will still come down to international cooperation.
On January 20, Trump took the oath of office, becoming the 47th president of the United States. After the inauguration ceremony, he signed more than 200 decrees. In particular, he approved decisions to withdraw the country from WHO and create the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Also, the Republican suspended Washington's aid abroad, returned the death penalty at the federal level and postponed the blocking of TikTok. Along with this, Trump rescinded about 80 executive orders of former US President Joe Biden's administration, including on electric cars. He also announced the recognition of only two genders in the US - male and female.
