The sunken vessel "Volgoneft-212" in the Kerch Strait, according to preliminary data, may be raised from the bottom. This was reported on January 22 by Denis Polyansky, chief diving specialist of Morspassluzhba.

"The thickness of the metal of the stern of "Volgoneft-212" allows to lift the vessel from the bottom, but to make sure of this 100%, will conduct several more dives," - his words are quoted in the Telegram-channel of the operstab of the Krasnodar region.

According to the agency, the study conducted by divers showed that the minimum thickness of the hull of the ship is 6 mm, and to the metal can be applied loads.

The day before it was reported that the first of the four tanks of the vessel "Volgoneft-239", which also crashed in the Black Sea, pumped out fuel oil. An embankment with a soil berm has been made around it. After cleaning the tanker may be utilized on site or transported to the port if technically possible.

The tankers Volgoneft-212 andVolgoneft-239crashed in the Kerch Strait on December 15, 2024 due to bad weather. The incident resulted in a spill of oil products. 27 people were evacuated from both vessels, one person died. On the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin, a working group was set up to coordinate the work to eliminate the consequences of the emergency.
