Russian Armed Forces liberate the village of Zapadnoye in Kharkiv region
The Russian Armed Forces have liberated the village of Zapadnoye in Kharkiv Region. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on Wednesday, January 22.
"The units of the grouping of troops "West" liberated the settlement of Zapadnoye in Kharkiv region," the ministry said in a statement.
It is specified that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) were defeated in the areas of five settlements in the region and three in the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR).
The enemy lost over 460 fighters, a tank, seven armored fighting vehicles, six field artillery guns and two field ammunition depots.
The day before, the Russian Armed Forces took control of the settlement of Volkovo in the Donetsk People's Republic. In addition, the Russian Armed Forces defeated the Ukrainian army brigades' manpower and equipment in the areas of the settlements of Shcherbinovka, Petrovka, Dzerzhinsk, Lysovka, Baranovka, Slavyanka, Novoelezavetovka, Solenoye, Novoalexandrovka and Novovasilievka of the DNR.
On January 20, the Russian army liberated the settlement of Shevchenko in the DNR, as well as Novolegorovka in the Luhansk People's Republic.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
