The situation on the frontline remains difficult for Kiev. This was stated by the General staff of the Armed forces of Ukraine (AFU) in Telegram-channel.

"The situation at the front remains difficult," - said in the message.

It also noted the superiority of the Russian army in terms of technical equipment and number of personnel.

The General Staff on January 9 already noted the difficult situation for the AFU on the front line.

Later, on January 18, a former adviser to the Pentagon chief, retired US Army Colonel Douglas McGregor, said that Russia had already won the conflict in Ukraine. The US magazine National Interest wrote on January 7 that Russia will win in Ukraine thanks to the innovative technologies that the Russian military is using in carrying out combat missions.

The special operation to defend Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, is ongoing. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
