The court sentenced to seven years and six months in a strict regime colony a patient of a Novosibirsk hospital, who attacked a medical worker with a screwdriver. This was reported on Wednesday, January 22, in the press service of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the region.

It is specified that the man was found guilty under part 3 of article 30, part. 1 article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Attempted murder"), paragraph "c", part 2 of article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Theft").

According to the investigation and the court, in October 2023, a patient of the psychiatric department of a Novosibirsk hospital, who was being treated for alcohol addiction, attacked a medical worker when she refused to give him a phone. He choked her and inflicted bodily injuries, but could not bring the case to murder, as the woman resisted and was helped in time.

The assailant also stole property worth more than 150 thousand rubles from the woman.

"The court, taking into account the evidence collected by the investigation, found the defendant guilty and imposed a sentence of seven years six months of imprisonment with serving the sentence in a strict regime colony", - stated in the message on the website of the department.

Earlier, on November 24, 2024, the man suspected in the murder of an ambulance paramedic was arrested for two months. The crime was committed on November 21 during transportation to the hospital in an ambulance. It was noted that a verbal altercation arose between an intoxicated patient and an ambulance employee. As a result, the man stabbed the paramedic in the chest and fled the scene. The man was detained on November 22.
