- The mother of the girl in the "Batman mask" reported the return to St. Petersburg in defiance of sanctions
The mother of the girl in the "Batman mask" Carol Fenner on January 22 gave Izvestia the date of her return to St. Petersburg in defiance of US sanctions.
"Donations were canceled because of the military situation between Russia and Ukraine. The US no longer helps if Russia is also involved," she noted.
Fenner said she will arrive in St. Petersburg with her daughter on May 1 to continue her treatment.
"Luna feels fine, but she still has keloid scars, and because of them she is in a little bit of pain. The doctors told us not to worry, it will all be fixed," said the girl's mom.
According to her, each trip to Russia costs the family about $25 thousand, of which $11 thousand is spent on surgery, $5 thousand on airfare, and the rest is spent on food and rent.
Luna was born with a rare pathology. She was diagnosed with melanocytic nevus of the face - a birthmark that can lead to skin cancer. In the United States, doctors were unable to help the girl, a few years ago, doctors from Krasnodar took up the treatment. In April 2024, the Fenner family came to St. Petersburg to continue treatment.
At the same time, the girl's mother told Izvestia that one of the factors of treatment in Russia was the price: it was much cheaper than in the United States. At the same time, it is possible to choose non-aggressive therapy so that the child feels less pain.
