The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that the number of weekly hospital visits for flu-like illnesses in Taiwan has reached the highest level in 10 years. This was reported by the Taipei Times on Wednesday, January 22.

Li added that the weekly number is projected to continue to rise. According to the expert, flu activity is high in Japan, South Korea, China and Hong Kong.

Earlier, on January 11, Taiwan recorded a record drop in the birth rate in 2024. It is noted that last year Taiwan also recorded the lowest number of newborns in history. In general, this indicator has been falling since 2016.
