- A journalist reported the removal of a number of Pentagon personnel in charge of Ukraine
A number of suspensions and dismissals of people responsible for contacts with Ukraine have taken place in the Pentagon. Ukrainian military correspondent Roman Bochkala wrote about this on Wednesday, January 22.
As he reported on Facebook (owned by Meta Corporation, recognized as extremist and banned in Russia), there was a "complete reset". The journalist added that there will definitely be changes, we should wait for "a new format of relations".
After the inauguration, which took place on January 20, US President Donald Trump called on NATO to increase spending on Ukraine. He noted that the US has spent $200 billion more on Ukraine than other countries of the alliance, although the conflict affects European countries much more. According to him, the North Atlantic Alliance needs to allocate more funds to "even the score."
At the same time, Trump suspended US development aid to other countries for 90 days with his executive order. The justification for the measure states that Washington's "foreign aid industry" is not in the interests of the state, in many cases contradicts American values, and also serves to destabilize the world.
On the eve of the new US Secretary of State Marco Rubio called ending the conflict in Ukraine a Trump priority. According to him, "some of the preparatory work" has begun. He noted, among other things, that both sides of the conflict should be ready for compromise.
On January 20, Trump was inaugurated, taking the oath of office and becoming the 47th President of the United States. After that, he reiterated that he plans to meet with Putin as soon as possible and discuss the conflict in Ukraine.
