- BM-21 "Grad" calculations disrupted the AFU's preparations for a counterattack on the Kurakhov direction
BM-21 Grad multiple rocket launchers of the Guards Motorized Rifle Division of the Southern Group of Forces have foiled an attempt by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) to prepare for a counterattack in one of the sections of the Kurakhov direction. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 22.
It is specified that calculations of drones revealed an attempt to concentrate personnel of assault groups, light armored and automotive equipment of the AFU in the locality of Dachne. The coordinates of the concentration area were immediately transmitted to the artillery control point.
The fire of the 103rd Motorized Rifle Regiment's artillery combat vehicles hit a number of targets in the AFU concentration point, which resulted in the counterattack being thwarted before it began.
Control and correction of the hit targets were carried out by the calculations of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
"There are the first three targeting, then the correction is already underway. Reconnaissance works, then we are given a target, coordinates, and we already work on them. We are just given the coordinates, we worked out, and then they tell us what, how and whom we hit," said the gunner with the call sign Sizyy.
Earlier, on January 11, the Southern Group of Forces reported about the capture of 16 AFU soldiers in the Kurakhov direction. It is specified that after the offensive of the 110th Guards Brigade of the 51st Guards All-Russian Army and the dropping of leaflets from UAVs calling for surrender, the AFU military voluntarily captured.
The special operation to defend Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
