After taking control of Terniv and Novohorovka, the "West" troop group continues to increase pressure in the Krasnolimanskoye direction. The Russian military, which is currently attacking the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the area of Torskoe and Serebryanskoe forestry, told Izvestia about their combat work in the Krasnolimansk direction.
The fighters of the Western group of troops control the air situation, keeping a machine gun at the ready, because artillerymen without cover now do not work.
"The other day I shot down an enemy Valkyrie. And a machine gun is better than a rifle in this case! High rate of fire and not a strong spread of bullets. It's more effective to hit with a machine gun than a smoothbore. You can hit with a smoothbore at close range, but with a machine gun - at a distance," said a fighter of the group with the call sign Beard in a conversation with Izvestia correspondent Dmitry Zimenkin.
Russian servicemen have a lot of equipment of the Ukrainian formations on their account. For example, a senior gunner of the group's artillery battery with the call sign Mongol, in addition to dugouts and pickup trucks, destroyed a moving armored vehicle that was carrying shells to the AFU mortars.
"Driving like that, stopped a little, hit her. Then our scout lost her, she drove into the bushes. Found it, I there are two fugitives. It began to detonate, burned very quickly. And this mortar, it was always harassing our infantry. Our scout burned it and I, well we destroyed it," commented Mongol.
Mongol says "we" destroyed, not "I", because this is the principle of combat brotherhood. As a single fist that breaks any defensive orders of the AFU.
Theliberation of the villages of Neskuchnoye and Terny in the DNR by the Russian army was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 14. It was noted that the military groups defeated five brigades of the AFU in the areas of the settlements of Velikaya Novoselka, Konstantinopol, Bogatyr, Novopol, Vremivka in the DNR and Novodovarovka in the Zaporizhzhya region.
A day earlier it became known that the Russian military liberated the settlement of Peschanoye in the DNR.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
