Pushkov stated Macron's opposition to Trump
French President Emmanuel Macron is demonstratively opposing US President Donald Trump, actually declaring himself the standard-bearer of war. Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov said on January 21.
"Within the Western alliance, Macron demonstratively opposes himself to Trump, proving that his statements are worth little," he wrote in his Telegram channel.
This is how the senator commented on the French President's recent public statement that the Ukrainian conflict will not end in the foreseeable future.
"While Trump declares - albeit still in words, but still - a course to end the conflict, which was once again confirmed today already by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Macron declares himself its standard-bearer," Pushkov concluded.
Earlier, on January 20, Macron urged not to wait for the promised by Trump soon completion of the Ukrainian conflict. Macron is convinced that the armed conflict "will not end tomorrow or the day after tomorrow." He also called on European allies to continue funding Kiev.
On this day, Trump took the oath of office in the rotunda of the Capitol, becoming the 47th president of the United States. Along with him, Vice President Jay Dee Vance was sworn in. This is Trump's second term as president, the first time he was the American leader in 2017-2021. In his inaugural speech, the new US President announced the beginning of the "golden age of America".
Then the same TV channel CNN reported, citing sources, that Trump instructed to organize a telephone conversation with Putin a few days after the inauguration. It is noted that one of the purposes of the conversation will be to discuss the organization of a personal meeting between the two politicians in the coming months to try to put an end to the conflict in Ukraine.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which the Russian President announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
