Russians increase spending on jewelry by almost 50% in 2024

In 2024, Russians have increased spending on jewelry made of precious metals and watches by 47%, according to the data of Post Bank, which were reviewed by Izvestia on January 22.

As follows from the results of the analysis of transactions on the cards of clients of the credit organization, the number of such purchases increased by one and a half times in 2024, and the average check - by 26%, to 17,417 rubles.

At the same time, men made such transactions twice as often as women, and their average check is 25% higher and amounts to 18,654 rubles. The bank's experts attribute this to the desire of the stronger sex to buy jewelry as a gift for important events. They also noted that the market of jewelry, especially women's jewelry, annually shows growth.

According to the credit institution, the increase in spending on jewelry is also due to the fact that many Russians consider such purchases as an investment, because jewelry often grows significantly in value from year to year.

Earlier, on January 16, it was reported that two-thirds of Russians of both sexes (65%) admitted that jewelry can "attract" success, love or health. At the same time, 51% of respondents believe that it is rings that work best as talismans. This is stated in the results of a survey by jewelry brand Sokolov.
