Investigators have reduced the charges against Demchik, ex-head of the Russian Defense Ministry's clothing department

Investigative actions have been completed in the criminal case against the former head of the clothing department of the Russian Defense Ministry and CEO of Knyaginskaya Garment Factory JSC. This was reported in the press service of the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation on January 21.

"Investigative actions in the criminal case against the former head of the clothing department of the Russian Defense Ministry Vladimir Demchik, <...> as well as the General Director of JSC "Knyaginskaya sewing factory" and deputy of the Knyaginsky municipal district of the Nizhny Novgorod region Alexander Svistunov have been completed," the agency said in a statement in its Telegram-channel.

Earlier Demchik and Svistunov were charged with receiving and giving a bribe on a particularly large scale - 4 million rubles. Now, based on the data of the investigation, the defendants are accused of receiving and giving a bribe on a large scale (paragraphs "b", "c", part 5, article 290 of the Criminal Code and paragraph "b", part 4, article 291 of the Criminal Code), that is, not more than 1 million rubles.

In addition, the press service recalled that the property of Demchik worth more than Br100 million, as well as the property of Svistunov, the value of which exceeds Br35 million, is arrested.

Earlier, January 5, it became known that Svistunov was transferred to house arrest at the request of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation. Then it was noted, the defendant confessed in the case of bribery on a particularly large scale.

The initiation of criminal proceedings against Svistunov became known on October 11, 2024. He is accused of bribery for the possibility of execution of the state contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The military court arrested Demchik on suspicion of bribery in August 2024. Then it was reported that in the spring of 2017, the general director of a company wanted with his assistance to solve the issue of involvement in the execution of state contracts for supplies for the needs of the Russian Armed Forces and handed him a bribe.
