Death toll rises to 66 in resort fire in Turkey
In Turkey, the number of people killed in a fire at the ski resort Kartalkaya in Bolu province has risen to 66 people, while the number of injured amounted to 51 people. This was reported on January 21 by the TV channel TRT Haber with reference to the head of the Interior Ministry of the Republic Ali Yerlikay.
"Unfortunately, we have 66 dead, 51 wounded," - the TV channel quotes the words of the head of the Interior Ministry.
It is noted that a total of 238 people were in the hotel.
About the fire that broke out in the Turkish resort last night, became known earlier in the day. According to CNN Türk, the fire broke out in the hotel at an altitude of 2,2 thousand meters. Having started in the restaurant part of the 12-story wooden building around 3:30 am, the flames spread quickly. Before that, 10 dead and 32 injured were reported.
The Russian Embassy told RIA Novosti that it had received no information about Russians injured or killed in the fire. As noted by the governor of Bolu Abdulaziz Aydin, currently the fire in the hotel has largely been brought under control. The provincial prosecutor's office is investigating the causes of the incident.
