US President Donald Trump is not yet ready to clearly formulate his position on Ukraine. This opinion was expressed by Vladimir Dzhabarov, first deputy chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, commenting on the absence of the Ukrainian issue in the US leader's inauguration speech.

"Before meeting with our president[Vladimir Putin, Russian president], before the phone conversation with him, he is not ready to formulate how Americans should behave on Ukraine. These illusions that supposedly Trump will force Ukraine to surrender are worthless," the senator said in a conversation with Lenta.Ru.

According to the senator, the United States has its own interests in Ukraine, the main of which is to make it good for Washington, not Kiev or Moscow.

Dzhabarov believes that Trump simply has not yet formulated a point of view.

"He does not want to immediately aggravate relations with our president. That's why I think there will still be a meeting first, and then he will make up his mind," the politician admitted.

Earlier in the day, the Russian leader's press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that the Kremlin is not yet preparing a telephone conversation between the Russian president and the US president, RT reported.

On the eve, new US Secretary of State Marco Rubio called ending the conflict in Ukraine Trump's priority, Regnum news agency reported. According to him, "part of the preparatory work" has begun.

Earlier in the day, CNN reported, citing sources, that Trump instructed to organize a phone conversation with Putin a few days after the inauguration, according to the website kp.ru.

January 20 was the inauguration of Trump, who took the oath of office and became the 47th president of the United States. After that, he reiterated that he plans to meet with Putin as soon as possible and discuss the conflict in Ukraine.
