There's been a massive flare on the Sun
A powerful flare lasting 48 minutes was registered on the Sun. This was reported on January 21 on the website of the Institute of Applied Geophysics named after Fedorov.
"January 21 in the X-ray range in the group of spots 3967 (S17E23) at 13:39 Moscow time registered flare M3.3 with a duration of 48 minutes," - stated in the message.
The Institute made a space weather forecast for January 21 and 22. According to their data, on the sun possible flares of class X.
Solar flares depending on the power of X-ray radiation are divided into five classes: A, B, C, M and maximum X.
Earlier, on January 4, six powerful flares occurred on the Sun, one of them - class X. A class X1.1 flare of 24 minutes duration was registered at 1:41 Moscow time.
