- The Ministry of Health reported on reproductive health checks in over 6 million Russians
Over 6 million people in Russia underwent medical examination for the first time last year to assess their reproductive health. This was announced by Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko on January 21.
He noted that one of the main tasks is to increase the coverage of the adult population with this dispensary by 2030.
"In 2024, more than 2.5 million men and 3.5 million women underwent reproductive medical examination for the first time at the expense of compulsory health insurance," Murashko said at the XIX International Congress on Reproductive Medicine.
In addition, the Ministry of Health has introduced new approaches to the work of women's counseling centers aimed at forming positive reproductive attitudes. According to the Ministry, more than 260 thousand pregnant women have undergone motivated questioning, during which they were individually provided with information on social support measures, taking into account their life circumstances.
As for medical specialists, more than 11,000 workers were trained in modern methods of psychological counseling for women making reproductive health decisions. This training has helped to preserve the pregnancy of almost 40 thousand patients in 2024.
In August 2024 Chelyabinsk scientists found out how to restore reproductive health of men who underwent COVID-19. Thus, one of the effective means is possible inclusion in prevention protocols of zinc, which acts as an antioxidant. It prevents some proteins, such as superoxide dismutase, from accelerating the breakdown of organic substances into oxygen and hydrogen peroxide, while others, on the contrary, induce the binding of reactive oxygen species with heavy metals.
