Production of BAIC BJ60 SUVs started in Russia
Production of BAIC BJ60 cars has started at the Avtotor plant in Kaliningrad. This is the sixth model of the brand and the second SUV of the brand on the assembly line of the enterprise, according to the company's report, which was received by Izvestia on January 21.
The first BAIC BJ60 cars produced for the Russian market will be equipped with a two-liter diesel engine rated at 163 hp (400 Nm), which works in tandem with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The powertrain of the SUV is realized by the technology of a "soft hybrid": an electric motor with an output of 14 hp acts as a starter, facilitating the work of the internal combustion engine.
The length of the model is 5040 mm with a wheelbase of 2820 mm. All-wheel drive is realized on the principle of Part-Time, there is a reduction gear, as well as additional locks of front and rear inter-wheel differentials. Terms of launch of BAIC BJ60 sales and prices are not specified.
The day before it was reported that in 2025 JAC plans to expand the lineup of cars in the Russian market. In 2024 in Russia, the company became the leader in the pickup segment in the second half of the year with a market share of 23.8%.
Also on Monday it became known that in Russia in early 2025 will begin sales of a new Korean SUV Rexton from the company KGM, which was previously sold in Russia under the brand SsangYong. The model will be presented in two configurations.
